A body has been found floating in the water near Pierre Part Bay.
A woman found the unidentified man's body around 4 p.m. Thursday.
The man is an acquaintance of the woman.
Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack says the woman spoke to the man two weeks ago and hadn't heard from him since so she went to check on him.
The coroner says the body must have been in the water about a week.
Officials believe the man was unloading groceries when he may have had a medical problem and fell in the water.
The body was taken to Orleans Parish for an autopsy.
