LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
Some classroom comments have a football coach under investigation. The Lauderdale County superintendent confirmed she's looking into comments the coach made about the first lady and gays.
Superintendent Jennifer Gray said she received an email earlier this week with an audio clip of what's believed to be Lauderdale County High School football coach Bob Grisham.
In the audio clip, the man believed to be Grisham is heard saying, "Like those lunches... you get 600 calorie lunches. You know who's behind that?" Another voice can be heard saying, "Michelle Obama." Then Grisham answered, "Fat butt Michelle Obama."
Later on in the clip that same voice is heard saying, "I don't believe in queers, I don't like queers. I don't hate them as a person, but what they do is wrong, it's an abomination against God. I don't like being around queers."
"It's a personnel issue, so there's privacy rights and laws that we have to respect," said Gray. "The board and I are conducting an investigation and we're going to look into this thoroughly."
We did try to reach out to the football coach Thursday afternoon on his cell phone, but it went straight to voicemail.
