LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) -
Two Texas men involved in an asphalt paving scam will have to pay over $400,000 in restitution.
Billy Densmore II and Derrick Johnson admitted to using fake business names to get paving work, then used inflated prices, threats, intimidation and substandard materials to get money from clients.
Detectives say in most cases, the victim was told leftover materials from another job were available at a discount.
According to reports, Densmore would have victims make check payments to employees so the money couldn't be traced back to him. The employee would cash the check, keep a portion for themselves and give the rest to Densmore.
Authorities seized six pieces of heavy equipment and $400,000 in cash from the men.
