BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
A 13-year-old student was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge
Juvenile Detention Center, accused of making prank phone calls to Westdale
Middle School.
According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, the 8th grader
made the calls two times this week.
The first one was Monday, January 8, 2013 at 3:30 p.m., after school was
already dismissed. EBRSO officials say the student said he was the assistant
principal and there was a student at the school with a knife. School Drug Task
Force searched the school and no student or weapon was found.
Police say the 8th grader called again Tuesday at 9:55 a.m. and said there
was a student in the bathroom with a gun. The school was placed on hold and
secure while the School Drug Task Force searched the school again. They did not
find a student with a weapon.
According to EBRSO, after the student was identified as being the one who
made the calls, a deputy took him into custody and charged him with
terrorizing.
The School Drug Task Force is a multi-agency unit made up of East Baton
Rouge Sheriff's Deputies and Baton Rouge Police Officers.
