CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -
Cleveland Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 19 year old DeAndre Nickerson.
Tuesday at 4:24 p.m., Police Dispatch received a call for a male shot at E. 131 and Austin Avenue.
Upon arrival on scene Fifth District Officers located Nickerson with a gunshot wound to the torso. EMS was notified, responded to the scene and took Nickerson to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he later expired from his injuries.
The preliminary investigation reveals that Nickerson was operating a vehicle with four passengers on Austin Avenue. At E. 131 he was stopped for the stop sign when a gold Chrysler that was traveling behind him pulled around his vehicle and fired multiple shots into the Nickerson's car hitting him.
After shooting Nickerson the suspect vehicle fled the scene northbound on E. 131.
The Cleveland Division of Police is asking that anyone with information in c/w this incident to contact the Homicide Unit at 216.623.5464.
