This Friday (Feb. 1), the American Heart Association is asking you to wear red to help raise awareness about the number one killer of women in the United States.

Heart disease claims the lives of a half-million American women each year. National Wear Red Day challenges women to know their risk for heart disease and realize the symptoms and warning signs for women aren't the same as men.

While most of us associate heart attacks with extreme chest pain, the American Heart Association says women are more likely to experience shortness of breath, nausea, back or jaw pain, dizziness, pain in the lower chest or upper abdomen, and extreme fatigue.

But, the good news is heart disease can be prevented by practicing healthy lifestyle habits. So please, help bring attention to this important health issue and join millions of women and men this Friday who come together to wear red and commit to fighting this deadly disease.
