CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
Ohio Attorney General Mike Dewine filed a lawsuit on Monday seeking restitution for consumers of a local home improvement company.
According to the lawsuit, Jacob Wagers and James Sasser, doing business as Ohio Insurance Assessments, failed to deliver work on several occasions and did not provide refunds to consumers.
DeWine says the local roofing and siding company solicited business door-to-door and accepted payments for repair and construction projects in several Ohio counties, including Butler County. The lawsuit says Wagers and Sasser, of Trenton, have an office in Hamilton.
He also claims in other instances, work that was performed was 'shoddy', and the quality of products used was not as good as promised. In addition, consumers were not notified by the company of their right to cancel, which is a violation of the state's Home Sales Solicitation Act.
The Attorney General advised when considering hiring someone for home-improvement or repair work, be sure to have a written contract signed by the consumer and contractor, detailing all the information.
