Police arrest 1 suspect, search for another in grad student's death

HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) -

Police have arrested one suspect and are looking for another in the shooting death of a college graduate student.

The Hammond Police Department reported Raphael Garrison, 23, a grad student at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, was found shot to death in his apartment Friday.

Officers said Richard Hudson, 20, was arrested at his home in New Orleans Saturday.

He will be charged with murder. He was booked into the Hammond jail, but will be taken to the Tangipahoa Parish prison.

Police are still searching for Terry Landry, 20, of Gretna.

Detectives said he is possibly in the New Orleans area.

Investigators are asking anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.

They added the Southeastern Police Department, New Orleans Police Department and Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office assisted in apprehending Hudson.
