Middletown car theft leads to police chase

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) -

Police engaged a suspect in a car chase after a vehicle was stolen from a Middletown auto dealership.

Police received information that a Ford Focus was stolen from Pierson Automotive early Sunday morning.  According to reports, the keys were stolen from the dealership on Saturday afternoon. The suspect came back to the dealership overnight after the dealership has closed for the car.  

The stolen vehicle was later spotted by Middletown Police on Elmwood Street.

According to reports, police saw David Michael Howard,20, enter the stolen vehicle and drive away.

Police attempted to stop Howard at Shafor Street when the vehicle sped away.

A two-mile chase ensued. Police apprehended Howard near Manchester Road.

Howard has been charged with grand theft, receiving stolen property, driving under suspension, fleeing and eluding officers and traffic charges.
