Posted: Updated:

BATON ROUGE (KSLA-TV) - The Louisiana High School Athletics Association announcing that the principals of LHSAA schools have passed Proposition 18.  This means that the 388 schools in Louisiana will have two separate divisions during football playoffs.

The "select" schools, which are mostly private, will be in two divisions.  Division I will be divided between 5A, 4A, and 3A.  Division II will be divided between 2A and 1A.  "Non-select" schools, which are public schools with designated attendance zones, will play in the traditions 1A through 5A divisions.

The format change is set to take effect during the 2013 football season.
