ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -
Crews have installed two large pumps in Frog Bayou to help with flooding in the Bluff Swamp Basin.
Officials say the pumps will begin pumping water into Bayou Manchac Friday morning.
Each pump can pump up to 68,000 gallons of water per minute.
Officials say it would take at least one month to drain back to normal levels if the pumps weren't used.
The Bluff Swamp Basin is in the northwestern part of Ascension Parish.
