LAPLACE, LA (WWL) -
A New Orleans television station reports a shooting involving deputies with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office left a woman dead early Thursday morning.
According to WWL, the Louisiana State Police said the shooting happened in LaPlace around 1:30 a.m.
The woman was identified as Barbara Lassere, 60, of Boutte.
Troopers said she was pulled over by a SJBPSO deputy, but after stopping she pulled out a weapon and drove off.
Reports indicate the deputies followed Lassere to a home in LaPlace and one of them shot her while she was still in the car after she fired at them.
She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
