WALKER, LA (WAFB) -
A crash that happened around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday claimed the life of a Denham Springs man.
The crash happened on La Hwy 447, south of I-12 at Joe May Road in Livingston Parish. The crash shut down a portion of Hwy 16.
According to Louisiana State Police, Walker resident Jeff Pratt, 44, was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer northbound on LA 447 when he drifted off the roadway of the roadway to the right. He overcorrected which caused his vehicle to cross the center line.
His pickup truck collided head-on with a 1986 Toyota pickup driven by 52-year-old Alan K. Vinet of Denham Springs.
Louisiana State Police say Vinet died in the crash.
Driver impairment on the part of Pratt is unknown at this time; however, Troopers have submitted a toxicology sample from him to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation, and charges may be pending.
