(WAFB) -
Parts of
north Louisiana, much of Mississippi and points northward are dealing with icy
weather.
Dropping temperatures,
combined with rainy weather, sent drivers slipping and sliding all over the
roads.
Police in
Tennessee responded to accidents across the state due to the conditions.
Road crews
are working to spread sand and salt in trouble spots.
Around
Jackson, MS trees coated in ice are causing concern. The heavy limbs are snapping
and breaking.
In
Shreveport, DOTD crews are also on high alert for icy conditions. They have
salt trucks staged across the area in case things get messy.
Officials
urge people to stay off the roads if possible. Those who must drive around are
encouraged to drive slower, watch for shiny reflections on bridges and
overpasses and stay calm.
