HAUGHTON, LA (KSLA) -

A Haughton man was arrested after police say he was detained by homeowners at gunpoint who caught him stealing from cars in their Haughton neighborhood.

Bryan M. Marshal, 24, of Adner Road in Haughton, was arrested early Friday morning in connection with a series of burglaries in the Forest Hills subdivision in Haughton. Marshal was charged with three counts of simple burglary.

Also, Marshal was arrested on a warrant out of Bossier City for access device fraud. He was taken to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility in Plain Dealing. Bossier City Police have levied additional charges against Marshal.

The burglary incident began about 3:30 a.m., when police say two men who were committing a burglary on a vehicle on Bloomfield Lane were confronted by a homeowner. One of the men ran to a neighbor's house across the street, and that homeowner joined the first homeowner in holding the burglary suspect at gunpoint until Bossier Sheriff's Deputies arrived.

Bossier Sheriff's K-9 teams searched the area for the second burglar, but he successfully ran away and remains at large.

Authorities say the two men stole items from at least three vehicles during the night, and the items were left behind when they fled. Those items have been returned to their owners. Their vehicle, parked down the road, also was seized.
