Floodwaters begin to recede in South Louisiana

Officials will be watching the floodwaters in northeast Livingston Parish over the next few days as the water flows into the Chinquapin and Maurepas areas.  WAFB's Greg Meriwether will have more tonight on 9News at 5.

Meanwhile in Ascension Parish, authorities think 70 percent of the parish would be under water if not for the drainage control structure.  WAFB's Cheryl Mercedes will have more on what it takes to get the water moving out tonight on 9News at 6.
