DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - People in Livingston Parish said conditions are getting worse after another round of heavy rains pounded the area Thursday morning.
One of the streets experiencing flooding problems is Larry Drive in Denham Springs.
Many people there have turned to boats as their main form of transportation.
Residents said the area isn't known for flooding, but the last three heavy rains have created problems.
Brian Fairburn, the assistant director of DPW in the parish, said 78 roads had water over them Thursday morning.
Barricades or high water signs have been placed on those to let people know they are closed or there is danger.
Fairburn added 486 tons of sand has been hauled to area fire stations for people to bag and place around their homes.
However, there are many areas that have so much water the bags won't work.
