BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - East Baton Rouge Animal Control, along with other agencies, are investigating a dead horse that was found at the Baton Rouge Metro Airport.
Officials say the horse was tied to a barrier on the airport property on the corner of Plank Road and Blount Road.
East Baton Rouge Animal Control Director Hilton Cole says the horse was tied by its back legs with a tow strap. Animal Control has traced the horse via microchip to Tangipahoa Parish.
Cole says the horse had no visible wounds. Animal Control is trying to determine whether it had a disease or died from malnourishment.
The owner of the horse could face charges of illegal dumping and trespassing.
