(WAFB) -
Sen. Harry
Reid, D-NV, is not a crowd favorite near the Gulf Coast after the
Senate majority leader made comments leading up to a congressional vote for
Hurricane Sandy relief.
"We
had a devastating Katrina," Reid said. "The people of New Orleans and
that area, they were hurt, but nothing in comparison to what happened to the
people in New England."
Reid was
making a comparison of the government's response time to offer disaster aid for
Katrina versus Sandy.
While Sandy
was the most costly natural disaster since Katrina, the death toll for
Hurricane Katrina exceeded 1,800 people.
