BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A video uploaded to YouTube two days ago shows a person parachuting from the 12th floor of the Sheraton Hotel in Birmingham.

But it's unlikely that any charges will be filed against the jumper.

Birmingham police say no charges have been filed in the incident because they were never called. In addition, the video is very grainy and it would be difficult to make a positive identification of the jumper.

"We don't have any information on this incident because we were not called to investigate. Without an investigation of what happened, I can't say what charges, if any, would apply," Birmingham Police Sgt. Johnny Williams said.

"Friend is base jumping inside the hotel in Birmingham, Alabama from 12 stories up," is the only explanation accompanying the grainy video.

BASE jumping refers to an often-riskey stunt in which someone parachutes from one of four fixed objects: buildings, antennas, spans and earth.

In the 36 second video, a person in dark clothing jumps from the top floor inside the hotel, then quickly deploys a green and black parachute.

As soon as the jumper lands, the person filming the video offers congratulations, saying "Nicely done!" and "Happy New Year!" Others can be heard in the background adding, "Nice job!"

Someone else's voice can be heard repeating, "Never do that again."

Those watching the stunt urge the jumper to "Run, run run," and "Go, go, man, go!" as the person picks up the parachute and leaves the hotel.

The video was posted on January 2, 2013 by "jim newcastle." It's the only video the YouTube user has uploaded so far.

As of Friday morning, the video had 1,774 views.
