DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Ella Kate Anderson is four years old. As a Cystic Fibrosis patient, she knows she has special needs.

And she has a very special friend, 3-year-old Ava, who has needs of her own.

"She doesn't have any hair 'cause she has Leukemia," said Ella Kate.

Her mom, Shannon Anderson, said it's a simple concept.

"We've always tried to teach Ella Kate that it's good to give," said Shannon.

Ella Kate is donating her own hair, in Ava's honor, so that someone like her friend can have a wig, while fighting a deadly disease.

"I guess she got her first cut around one. And we decided to let it grow and whenever we found out about Ava, we decided that giving her hair to Locks of Love would be a way for her to give back when so many people have given so much for her," said Shannon.

As the mother of a child with health needs, Shannon and her husband know how much the action of others helped Ella Kate during a health struggle.

"We have always been surrounded by wonderful friends and family who have been very supportive of us and our cause, and so that is something that we have wanted to teach Ella Kate - that it's very important to give back to others when you can," she said.

With just a few snips, Ella Kate knows her pretty locks will be a big help to another person, maybe someone like her friend.

Even at age 4, Ella Kate is making such a difference. She's learning a lot about life, love and giving back in Bobby's Bama.
