CLIFTON, OH (FOX19) -
The University of Cincinnati Police Department plans to step up their patrols in 2013.
This comes after a Campus Safety Summit was held at UC, back in November.
UC President Santa Ono announced the number of campus officers on patrol will increase by 30%, starting on January 1st, 2013.
University officials gathered to talk about ways to prevent crime and promote safety both on and off campus.
In addition to increasing patrols, UCPD and Cincinnati Police hope to collaborate in several ways, including presentations at new student orientation and standardizing the collection and analysis of crime data.
President Ono said campus safety remains a top priority, and encouraged surrounding urban communities to be aware and proactive.
