BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Wrapped in her mother's arms and sporting a cute skull beanie cap, little Juniper Lynn Marie Franklin is already showing rock star potential.
"Tell her all about it," said mom Summer Franklin, about what she will tell her daughter about her birth. "You were pretty much famous instantly."
Born at 1:20 a.m. at Woman's Hospital, the bundle of joy was the first baby born in 2013 in Baton Rouge. Her due date was actually Christmas Day, but parents Summer Franklin and Aaron Groves of Denham Springs were glad to welcome her into the New Year.
"It's kind of weird, it's not like real really. Everyone's like, 'You're a mom' and I'm like, 'Doesn't really feel any different than it did yesterday,'" said Franklin.
At eight pounds and one ounce, the girl is small. However, with a monster-themed nursery - cute monsters according to mom and dad - she will be ready to take the world by storm.
"She's not going to be scared of anything," Franklin explained.
The parents shared what their first words of wisdom will be to their first baby girl.
"Learn from your mistakes and don't repeat them. Just be happy," Franklin said.
