Convicted killer escapes from prison

Tonight on 9News at 5: A plan to avoid the fiscal cliff has passed in the Senate, with both Mary Landrieu and David Vitter voting for it.  The plan now goes to the House of Representatives, where it faces opposition from Republican lawmakers.

For the second time in under a week, an inmate is on the loose.  A woman escaped from the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women in St. Gabriel this morning.  She had been serving a 25-year sentence for manslaughter.  Watch 9News at 6 for the latest developments.
