ST. JAMES, LA (WAFB) -
Hundreds of
jobs could be on their way to St. James Parish, if a company decides to bring
an ammonia plant to Louisiana.
Gov. Bobby
Jindal said the Mosaic Company has chosen the Bayou State.
If Louisiana
is the plant's final destination, it will bring at least 53 direct jobs with an
average pay of about $83,000. It will also mean hundreds of jobs with the
construction and expansion phase.
"Mosaic
is beginning front-end engineering and design work for a $700 million world
scale ammonia plant right here in St. James Parish," Jindal said.
Mosaic will
finalize its location for the plant in the middle of next year.
If it
chooses St. James Parish, construction will begin in 2014.
