Garden park opens in Scotlandville

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Several organizations joined forces to turn a neighborhood eye-sore into a garden park.

The Scotlandvile Community Garden Park officially opened in Baton Rouge Friday.

Groups teamed up to build plots for the residents to grow vegetables and fruits.

The park is on the corner of Pembroke and Goudchaux streets.

"Let's continue to move forward," said Mayor Kip Holden. "Let's take this project to make it a real great project, not just for the city, but for the whole nation to see how a community came together."

This park is part of a community-development master plan to revitalize the area.
