CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
A local company plead guilty to rigging bids submitted to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for traffic control devices.
According to Attorney General Mike DeWine, Cincinnati-based, Quattro, Inc. would tell competitors what prices to quote ODOT for specific products.
Quattro, Inc. and other companies, being called 'co-conspirators', would then make sure there were enough bids to show the appearance of competition.
As a result, ODOT had to pay inflated prices for the products.
"This is a warning today with these guilty pleas, that any organization or any individual who may be tempted to rig the state's bidding process, rigging and price fixing are unacceptable and illegal, and if you engage in either, we'll come after you and we will prosecute you", said DeWine.
This is the first time in almost thirty years that charges have been filed in connection with Ohio's Valentine Anti-Trust Act.
