BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
A man is dead after being hit by an SUV Sunday evening.
It happened at the intersection of Highland Road and University Highlands Court in Baton Rouge around 8:35 p.m.
The victim was identified as Mark Deshotels, 75, of Baton Rouge.
The Baton Rouge Police Department said Deshotels was hit as he was trying to cross Highland.
EMS rushed him to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Investigators reported the driver involved stayed on the scene after the crash.
They said they don't believe the driver was impaired and don't anticipate filing any charges.
