GONZALES, LA (WAFB) -

Gonzales Police say one man is dead after a shooting that took place at the Hampton Inn on Outfitter Drive during a 7-year-old girl's birthday party.

Officers were called out to the scene around 5 p.m. Saturday.  They were met in the lobby by Ebony Bailey, who said her children's fathers got into a fight at her daughter's 7th birthday party.

Bailey told police that Alden Warner was fighting with her current boyfriend, 49-year-old Louis Talbert.  Warner was detained in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn and then officers went to the room where the party was taking place.

They found Talbert on the floor with a gunshot wound to the chest.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives learned from Bailey that the shooting stemmed from a comment Warner made to Bailey in Talbert's presence, which caused him to hit Warner several times.

Officials say Warner then pulled out a gun and shot Talbert in front of the kids at the birthday party.  None of the children were harmed and were released  back to their guardians.

Alden Warner has been booked on one count of Carrying an Concealed Weapon and one count of Manslaughter.
