BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
A pair of Clerk of Court employees have been arrested for stealing seven kilograms of cocaine from the evidence vault.
William Colvin, 30, is accused of taking the drugs after he was given a key to the evidence vault of the 19th Judicial District Clerk of Court's Office in October 2012.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Colvin then took the drugs to the home he shared with his girlfriend, Debra Bell, 55. When she learned of the stolen cocaine, she ended the relationship and moved out.
According to reports, Bell allegedly told investigators that while unpacking her things after moving, she found two kilograms of cocaine and $10,000 cash.
Investigators say both Colvin and Bell have admitted to passing the cocaine on to others for sale in the Baton Rouge area.
Both have been charged with malfeasance in office, theft and distribution of cocaine in excess of 400 grams.
