BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
A would-be carjacker was shot by his intended victim Tuesday night in the 2400 block of N. Acadian Thruway West.
According to police, a 40-year-old man ran out of gas around 9:15 p.m. He called a friend to bring him a can of gas and while he was refilling his car, two young males walked up. One was pointing a gun and demanded his money.
The victim grabbed the suspect's gun and the two fought over control of the weapon. While fighting the suspect over that gun, the victim managed to get his own gun inside his car. The victim shot the suspect in the stomach.
Both suspects ran away to a friend's house. A resident of that home called police and both suspects were taken into custody by responding officers.
The suspect who was shot is 17-years-old and is being treated at local hospital. He will be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison upon his release from the hospital.
His 16-year-old accomplice was placed into the Juvenile Detention Center. Both are charged with attempted armed robbery.
