KINGMAN, AZ (CBS5) -
A Golden Valley man suspected of burglarizing a vacant home escaped deputies twice before authorities used a Taser to subdue him.
Charles Murray, 23, was finally arrested and booked into the Mohave County Jail on charges of resisting arrest, aggravated assault on law enforcement officer and escape.
An alert citizen called sheriff's dispatchers at about 1:55 p.m. to report a burglary in the area of Hope Road and Chino Drive.
Deputies arrived at the scene and saw a man fitting the burglar's description walking about 40 yards from the residence. The man told deputies he was helping a friend cleanup the home.
Authorities performed a record check and discovered Murray had an outstanding warrant. As deputies were taking him into custody, he began screaming that he could not go to jail.
Murray began to resist by pulling away and flinging his body forward and backward, the sheriff's office said. Murray caught the deputy's chin with his fist as he continued to struggle, sheriff's investigators said.
Eventually, Murray got away and started running southbound in an open field, where he jumped a fence onto a property. A deputy's K-9 found Murray hiding inside a horse trailer.
Murray continued to struggle and he started running again, ignoring commands to stop, sheriff's officials said. The K-9 was deployed and bit Murray on his left bicep.
Murray continued to struggle as he was taken into custody. Deputies deployed a Taser as they brought Murray into custody. Murray was taken to Kingman Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released. He was then booked into jail.
