LUFKIN, TX (AP) -

The second alleged purse snatcher was taken into custody a couple hours after Lufkin police called off the man hunt for the two suspects who were seen allegedly snatching purses from two women Friday afternoon.

Joseph Wyane Finley, Jr., 21, was arrested around 9 p.m. Friday. According to Lufkin Police Sgt. Rodney Squyres, Angelina County Sheriff's OfficeDdeputies were responding to a suspicious activity call. Residents of the Champ's RV Park on U.S. 69 south reported Finley was going door-to-door at the park asking residents to use their phone to catch a ride. Sheriff's Deputies detained Finley until LPD arrived. Squyres said LPD identified Finley as the second suspect in the alleged purse snatching and arrested him.

The other alleged purse snatcher, Trent Dion Land, 21, was captured in a wooded area near FM 326 around 3 p.m. Friday. Lufkin Police Officers and Angelina County Sheriff's Deputies went on a two hour long man hunt in the wooded area. DPS was also on the scene with a helicopter helping detectives search for both Finley and Land in the wooded area. The man hunt was called off by police around 7 p.m. Friday.

LPD received a call around 12:25 p.m. Friday from a witness about the alleged purse snatchings.

According to the witness, two women were leaving the Another Broken Egg restaurant when Finley and Land reportedly ran up on the two women as they were walking through the parking lot and snatched their purses. The two men were seen fleeing the scene in a silver honda driven by a female according to Squyres.

According to Squyres, an eye witness followed the alleged purse snatchers. The female driver lost control of the car and drove off the road into a ditch on U.S. 69 south. Finley and Land took off on foot into a nearby wooded area while the driver stayed in the car.

Brittney Hadnot was arrested by LPD for an assault warrant. She has not been charged with robbery at this time but is part of the investigation.

Both Land and Finley have been booked into the Angelina County Jail. Land was booked in on a parole warrant and charges of evading arrest and robbery. Finley was booked in on credit card abuse, failure to identify, and robbery charges.

Police say citizen's participation at the scene and during the hunt helped with the arrest of the two alleged purse snatchers. Both purses were recovered.
