The daily death toll from drunk driving crashes during the holiday season is significantly higher than the rest of the year, with alcohol being blamed for more than a third of all fatal collisions.

While the number of drunk drivers getting behind the wheel is way too high, the good news is there has been a steady decline in this number over the past 10 years. Through education and following certain safety steps, we can save even more lives.

If you drink, don't drive, no matter how little you've had. Don't let friends drink and drive. Before drinking, designate a sober driver in your group. If out drinking, get a ride home or call a taxi.

And of course, buckle up every time, no matter how short the trip. The holidays should be a time for celebration, not tragedy. Please help us make our roadways safe by never driving after drinking.
