Two 17-year-olds were hospitalized with serious injuries after a car-pedestrian accident near Sandra Day O'Connor High School in north Phoenix on Monday morning.
A Phoenix Fire Department spokesman said a 17-year-old boy was flown to Phoenix Children's Hospital by a medical helicopter and a 17-year-old girl was taken by ambulance to John C. Lincoln-Deer Valley Hospital. Injuries to both teens were not as serious as previously thought, the spokesman said.
The accident happened about 7:40 a.m. near 39th Drive and Happy Valley Road as the teens were trying to cross a road to class after parking their cars in a lot near the high school. They reportedly were not in a crosswalk.
