CAMP MINDEN, LA (KSLA) -
In what could be the first of many such efforts, a local attorney has filed suit against Explo Systems, Inc., the company at the heart of the evacuation effort, before hazardous materials crews move 1 million pounds of smokeless black powder from Camp Minden.
Attorney Kyle Robinson of Bossier City says he filed a lawsuit in Webster Parish District Court on behalf of four plaintiffs.
Robinson says he's asking for class action status so that other local residents can also join the suit against Explo.
It seeks damages for expenses caused by those needing to evacuate, along with the inconvenience and even property damage.
Robinson says the last claim involves the expected loss in property values for properties near the facility.
