Report: Payton and Saints close to extension talks

ESPN is reporting that Don Yee, agent for Saints head coach Sean Payton, and NFL officials are finalizing conditions under which the suspended New Orleans coach can negotiate a contract extension with the Saints, according to a league source.

Adam Schefter reports the conditions could be finalized as early as this weekend.

Payton was suspended for the season by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for his part in the Saints "Bountygate" scandal.
