College football's end of the year is approaching quickly and Bowl bids will be handed out Sunday night. But before that happens, we have the Saints playing Atlanta, after being 'egged', in a Thursday night special and several Championship games on Friday and Saturday, including Alabama vs. Georgia.
Here we go:
New Orleans Saints (5-6) at Atlanta Falcons (10-1)
Atlanta welcomed the Saints last night by 'egging" the team's bus. Not sure that was the right thing to do to a team that once again has their backs against the wall. Can you say motivation? A loss to the Falcons might take them out of the playoff picture for good. The Falcons have been winning, but struggling to do so. This is a hard pick to make, but the urgency the Saints will be playing with Thursday will give them the advantage and it looks like a Who Dat victory in a close one:
Saints: 27 Falcons: 24
#2 Alabama (11-1) vs. #3 Georgia (11-1)
No pressure at all in this one. Winner plays for all the marbles, the loser misses out on a chance to play in a BCS Bowl. Alabama has shown a weakness against the pass and Georgia has a very good quarterback in Aaron Murray. Georgia also has a very good run game. Georgia will also upset Alabama and earn a trip to Miami to play undefeated Notre Dame, which by the way will be a much easier task than playing in the SEC Championship.
Georgia: 28 Alabama: 20
#16 UCLA (9-3) at #8 Stanford (10-2)
In a strange rematch of a game played Saturday between the teams and won by Stanford, it will be deja vu all over again.
Stanford: 24 UCLA: 14
#18 Texas (8-3) at #6 Kansas State (10-1)
Kansas State finally gets back on the field after losing against Baylor and watching their chance at a National Championship disappear. The Wildcats win number 11 and a trip to the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl:
Kansas State: 19 Texas: 10
#13 Florida State (10-2) vs. Georgia Tech (6-6)
OK, really? A team with a 6-6 record is really playing for a conference championship? That says a lot for the ACC. This one won't be close, the Seminoles are not in a good mood after losing to Florida in a 4th quarter collapse - watch out Yellow Jackets. Seminoles heading to the Discover Orange Bowl:
Florida State: 45 Georgia Tech: 14
#12 Nebraska (10-2) vs. Wisconsin
No Ohio State and no Penn State means the Badgers are playing in the Big 10 Championship game with a 4-4 conference record. Ouch! Bo Pelini and the Cornhuskers have quietly had a very good year and their success continues here earning the Huskers a trip to the Rose Bowl.
Nebraska: 26 Wisconsin: 10
#23 Oklahoma State (7-4) at Baylor (6-5)
Get ready for a downright offensive game! The scoreboard will light up with these two offenses playing. Last team with the ball wins and the coin flip says ..... The Cowboys:
Oklahoma State: 50 Baylor: 45
Louisiana-Lafayette (7-4) at Florida Atlantic (3-8)
Ragin' Cajuns use this game as a tune-up for the New Orleans Bowl, ULL in a blowout:
LA-Lafayette: 35 Florida Atlantic: 9
#21 Northern Illinois (11-1) vs. #17 Kent State (11-1)
MAC Championship on the line and a possible BCS Bowl bid - that's right a possible BCS Bowl bid. This should be an exciting game, with the Golden Flashes winning in a thriller and trying to be that BCS Buster!
Kent State: 35 Northern Illinois: 30
LAST WEEK: 4-5 ... SEASON TOTAL: 59-35
