ROGERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Investigators have developed a person of interest in the "Ball Cap Bandit" bank robberies. They did not release his name, but did say he is from Madison County.
The man allegedly robbed a Regions Bank in Rogersville Tuesday, and investigators said this robbery is connected to several other bank robberies recently.
The man walked to the counter of the bank and told the teller he had a weapon, but the bank later said the teller never saw the weapon.
"He had on a ball cap. He was dressed in all dark. Came in. Made the statement that he needed to make a withdrawal. And the lady said 'sir?' and he handed her a note that said 'this is a robbery and I have a gun,'" said Rogersville Police Chief Terry Holden.
At a press briefing Tuesday evening, investigators said they believed the man ran out of the bank and into the woods. They confirmed they are still keeping a lookout for a blue Kia or white SUV, both of which he could be driving.
The Rogersville police chief said he believes this bank robber is the same man who robbed the bank in Cullman Monday afternoon.
"All banks need to be on alert. He was calm, and I have to hand it to the employees here: they were real calm and did what they were supposed to do. Got good descriptions," said Holden.
Authorities said the man robbed Traditions Bank in Cullman and is also connected to bank robberies in Priceville, Guntersville, Albertville, and Pulaski, Tennessee.
Anyone with information to any of these robberies is asked to call local authorities.
