SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
It's a crime that makes you wonder, who would do such a thing?
President of the congregation Scott Bailey said whoever did this busted out a plate glass door on the side of the sanctuary. Outside on the patio, black tire marks on the concrete were visible where a vehicle was backed in and loaded up.
"Our sound mixing board is missing, our lighting board is missing, all of our digital recording equipment is missing," said Bailey.
Bailey showed up at the church just after 3 p.m. Saturday to do some work and realized his computer was missing.
"Right after that I realized everything was missing. It's disappointing. We're here to help the community and somebody violated our front yard," said Bailey.
It's estimated the burglars stole up to $35,000 worth of equipment and musical instruments. Bailey said everything that was missing was taken out of the sanctuary.
Soon after crime scene techs wrapped up their investigation, parishioners began picking up. Luxuries like microphones may be missing, but Bailey said the important thing is making sure people have a place to worship.
"Everybody's going to speak up a little louder. We will pull together and find a solution," said Bailey.
The church is insured. Bailey said they will eventually be able to replace the equipment and musical instruments that were stolen.
