DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
The First Response Ambulance Service donated 30 bicycles to the city's Pedaling Christmas Cheer campaign.
This is the second year the city is doing this. Last year, they collected 140 bikes for kids in less fortunate families. This year, they're shooting for 250 bikes.
"Parents come in with tears in their eyes, just thanking us for the contribution we were making because we know, without it, there would be kids who wouldn't have Christmas. And that's where the passion and the heart comes from," said Decatur City Council member, Roger Anders.
Right now, they have 50 bikes that have been donated.
You or your business can donate bicycles through December 15. Take them to Decatur City Hall, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. except, of course, on Thanksgiving.
