TUCSON, AZ (AP) -
A Tucson man has been sentenced to 10 1/2 years in prison in a fatal drunken-driving crash.
Pima County prosecutors say 21-year-old Ryan Membrila was sentenced Monday. He pleaded guilty last month to manslaughter and aggravated DUI.
The Arizona Daily Star (http://bit.ly/TOxR88) says Membrila was waiting for his first DUI case to go to trial at the time of the crash that killed 31-year-old Gabriel Enriquez.
Enriquez was with a friend on Interstate 10 when their car stalled on Sept. 20, 2011. Enriquez was walking behind the car talking on his cellphone when authorities say Membrila's vehicle struck the victim in the emergency lane.
Authorities say Membrila had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
Enriquez's family members had asked the judge to impose the maximum 21-year sentence.
