As many of us prepare to give thanks this week, we would like to share with you a few things we are thankful for here at WAFB. We are thankful for the spirit of our people and the good in their hearts that often lead to wonderful things.

This year was one of the biggest for the annual 'Walk to Remember,' an event set up to help people suffering with Alzheimer's. Many of you know our own Paul Gates is dealing with this disease and we were very pleased at the turnout from WAFB viewers to support Paul and his family and others like them. The event raised nearly $300,000 for Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area. Thank you.

Regardless of your politics, I think a lot of us are thankful this election season is over. And, regardless of the outcomes in the many hotly-contested races on Election Day, we were reminded we live in a country where we can vote freely.

Thank you to our troops for protecting that right. If you have a loved one, a solider, who won't be joining you for Thanksgiving, we are thinking of you.

And, on a personal note, I am thankful for my family and friends and I look forward to spending the holiday with them. I'm also thankful that you have let WAFB be a part of your family by coming into your home. So, from our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving.
