CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
A Cincinnati police station and high school were evacuated Thursday after a suspicious package was found. The suspicious package turned out to be a box of clothes, according to police.
About 900 students from Taft High School, along with CPD District 1 were both evacuated Thursday afternoon after a FedEx driver showed up with what he believed to be a suspicious package in his truck.
Police say the driver became suspicious of the package when he had never heard of the address so he drove his truck to the police station and notified an officer inside.
After being evacuated, the students at Taft High School and the Visual Arts School were bussed to their homes.
Officers say K-9s inspected the package to and determined that it did not contain drugs.
There was no disruption in service for District 1 residents.
Ezzard Charles and John Street were shut down while officers investigated.
"The good news is nothing bad happened," said Capt. Humphries.
With the city's top police brass out of their offices until the situation was resolved, Chief James Craig was asked if the safety of the streets was ever in jeopardy.
"Our police services or response to police services was not disrupted," said Craig. "Our staff did a phenomenal job as they do in these critical incidents. I'm very pleased with how its been handled."
