RICHFIELD, NC (WBTV) -

A 97-year-old woman said she was bitten by the hunting bug when she was just 10 years old and her older brother let her shoot a rabbit.

WBTV in Charlotte, NC reports it's been 87 years since that day, but Katie Watson of Richfield, NC said she's still an avid hunter who anticipates the start of hunting season every year.

She goes on hunting trips with her great nephew every year.

"I think it's great," said Wes Sells. "It is a privilege and honor to be able to have someone that has hunted their whole life."

Watson proudly boasts the fact she's tagged 44 deer since she turned 80.
