BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Authorities said one person is dead after a crash in Baton Rouge Tuesday morning. The crash happened just before 8 a.m. at Jefferson Highway and Inniswold that left Jefferson Highway closed for several hours.
Sheriff's Deputies say 29-year-old Shannan Fergeson Taylor was at the stop sign at Inniswold and Jefferson Highway when she drove into the intersection and was hit by a van going southeast on Jefferson.
Deputies say Taylor was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from her vehicle when it rolled over on top of her. Taylor was pronounced dead on the scene.
Taylor was alone in her vehicle at the time of the crash. The driver of the van was not seriously injured.
Deputies are awaiting toxicology from the Coroner's Office to determine if drugs and alcohol were a factor in the crash.
Deputies said all lanes of Jefferson are now open.
