BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Baton Rouge Police continue to investigate an incident where a group of officers were nearly run over by a suspect involved in an alleged drug deal.
Just after 11 p.m. Sunday, Baton Rouge Police Uniformed Narcotics Officers noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in the 13000 block of Old Hammond Highway.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle, Terrance Hilton, 32, was conversing with another male when officers approached the vehicle to talk to the driver.
The officer noticed what he believed to be illegal drugs in plain view in the front of the vehicle. The officer ordered Hilton out of the vehicle.
Police say Hilton put the vehicle in reverse and accelerated towards a group of officers that were standing behind the vehicle. The officer standing in front of the car fired a shot through the windshield of the vehicle at Hilton. Hilton was not injured.
He was taken into custody and charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle against a police officer.
