SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A woman is in the hospital after being hurled from a fair ride.
It happened at the Louisiana State Fair in Shreveport. A witness caught the aftermath on video.
"We just heard a pow sound, like it was a gunshot," said Shirley Leeper. "Everybody started running. We looked over and that's when we seen the young lady laying out."
Emergency personnel rushed to the scene.
Fair officials immediately shut down "The Fun Factory" ride and called in the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal to investigate.
The owner of the attraction claims the ride was accident-free until now.
"They've had the ride for 11 years," said Chris Giordano with the State Fair of Louisiana. "It's been in operation for 11 years without incident. He didn't know how it had happened, but it seemed like some sort of accident that they weren't real sure and certainly did not expect to happen."
The victim, who has not been identified, is being treated at an area hospital.
Authorities said her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
This comes after an incident at the same fair last year where a 4-year-old got trapped under a different ride.
