BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
How many people does it
take to pull a 147,000 pound airplane? Thirty one teams of 20
people gave it a try on October 27, 2012 at the Baton Rouge Metro Airport.
They did this during the
Arc's 5th annual Plane Pull to raise money for those with
intellectual and developmental disabilities.
This year there were more
teams than ever, which means more money for a great cause.
"This is a public
awareness event, but also to raise funds for two of our programs, our
children's services programs and our inclusive recreation programs," said Barry
Meyer with The Arc Baton Rouge. "Those are the two most under funded programs
that we have and they really need the help."
Teams had to pull a big FedEx plane 12 feet. The
trophy for the fastest pull went to Turner Industries Team 11. The slowest pull
trophy went to Sunrise Rotary, and the most enthusiastic team was Gulf Coast
Office Products.
