Ohio put President Barack Obama over the 270 electoral votes needed.

It has long been said that no president can expect to take the White House, without taking Ohio.  This time was no different.

By 11:30 p.m. CBS news had already called the race for Obama.

The president won swing states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and New Hampshire, states where Romney and Obama spent considerable time and money campaigning.

The President was in Chicago for his victory speech.

His family joined him on stage to celebrate four more years in the White House.

"You voted for action, not politics as usual. You elected us to focus on your jobs, not ours," said President Obama.

Governor Romney congratulated the President. The republican challenger says he gave everything he had to the campaign.

"I so wish that I had been able to fulfill your hopes to lead this country in a different direction but the nation chose another leader. So Ann and I join with you to earnestly pray for him and this great nation," said Romney.

The President says he looks forward to working with Romney on some issues.

"At a time like this, we can't risk partisan bickering and political posturing. Our leaders have to reach across the aisle to do the people's work," said Romney.

President Obama expects to get back to work this afternoon.
